Trio of tops

Trio of tops

Thank you to my Airstream friends for modeling the tops that I ice dyed. Colors are reminiscent of the Southwest scenic views we have experienced on our two month caravan.

Southwest Inspirational Adventures

Southwest Inspirational Vistas Hand stitching projects have been the norm while spending the last month and a half traveling the southwest and have yet another month to go. My head is already bursting with ideas, with mental sketches of the shapes and textures needed

Southwest Sun

Southwest Sun

Posts for the next two months will come as we travel through the four corner area of the southwest USA. My 2018 Mystery Quilt was made with this trip in mind so I took photos this morning as the sun was rising on our campground just outside Albuquerque, NM. While the landscape seems a little barren compared to midwest green grass and tall trees the area is so rich with history and culture that I have not explored. Looking forward to a wonderful trip with 30 Airstream units.

The pattern instructions for this quilt can be found under the heading of 2018 Mystery Quilt in past posts at this site.

Green Space

Green Space

Green Space is a work in progress, created using Denise Burkitt’s Art Excursions by Windham.  Love the very large art prints of the line!!  Tried cutting them up to discover the color play and it was way too busy.  The busy-ness reminded me of city

A Different Perspective

Differing Perspective For months I have wanted to find a unique way to use a particular border fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics. The abstract floral design that stood out was in the center of the fabric with dark background on each selvage. I was fussy

Fabric Marbling Workshop Rescheduled

Fabric Marbling Workshop Rescheduled

Well, the Mississippi River has kept us landlocked for two weeks causing the canceling of the workshop in early June.  I have rescheduled with the new information posted below followed by photo of a sampling of patterns to be explored.

Marbling Workshop

I have set aside three days, June 27, 28, 29 for teaching marbling on fabric with acrylic paint. Time frame will be 1:00 to 4:00 pm each day. Because I have limited space at my home I will take 4 participants each day at a cost of $50 each. I will provide all supplies including 1 yard of treated white, 100% cotton PFD fabric cut into eight pieces in addition to some scrap pieces for practice, mixed paint, sizing, and tools but participants will need to bring old newspaper (not glossy pages) torn in about 3″ strips, two large garbage bags, supplies for note taking if desired, and an apron for clothing protection (or old clothes).

Please feel free to share this information within your networks and encourage questions from any needing more details. Email is the most convenient way to reach me to sign up for this creative workshop opportunity. (sharonwasteney@gmail.com)

Photo below shows examples of some of the patterns to be created.

Photos may help to clarify how I bound the edges of the paddle wheel on my pattern “America’s Hometown”. I hope you enjoy the pattern and appreciate any feedback. I do not access the website every day or sometimes even not every week so personal

Inspiration Starter–Old Quilt, New Tote

I acquired an old quilt with the Missouri Daisy pattern a few years ago. It was in very sad shape but the pattern intrigued me since we had recently moved to Missouri from Iowa. I managed to salvage several blocks for potential repurposing, but no

Marbling Workshop to be Offered

I have set aside three days, June 6, 7, 8, 2019 for teaching marbling on fabric with acrylic paint.

Participants may bring more fabric (most fiber content will work but highly textured fabrics do not work well) and can email me for directions to pretreat fabric when registering for the workshop.

developing a pattern

developing a pattern

I can create many a quilted project that looks pretty appealing to many but to put that idea forth as a pattern is truly work for me.  For Hannibal’s bicentennial I created a wall hanging to represent the past of Hannibal as well as to
